Meet the team and explain what you need. For a longer discussion or a particular member of staff, calling ahead helps us set aside time.

Bring a useful starting point

Last year’s return, the tax notice or a summary of your business is enough to begin the conversation. We’ll explain the next documents we need.

In Portland, federal and Oregon returns may only be the start.

Metro, Multnomah County and the City of Portland have different boundaries and filing rules. We check where you live, where you work and the kind of income you receive.

Metro Supportive Housing Services

For tax year 2026, SHS applies to Metro taxable income above $128,000 for single filers or $205,000 for joint filers. Liability depends on residency and income sources. This is a separate local filing, not part of your Oregon return.

1.5% +

Multnomah County Preschool for All

For 2026, PFA applies at 1.5% above $125,000 single or $200,000 joint, with another 1.5% above $250,000 or $400,000 respectively. Check county taxable income and the correct filing status. Payroll withholding does not replace a required return.

City + county

Portland business tax filings

Portland’s Business License Tax rate is 2.6%; Multnomah County’s Business Income Tax rate is 2%. Registration, exemptions and income allocation need checking separately. Qualifying for an exemption can still leave a filing requirement.

Living in Washington, working in Oregon

For a nonresident employee, Oregon generally taxes wages for work physically performed in Oregon. Working from home in Washington can change the calculation. Keep a workday record and review any local tax obligations too.

Personal tax figures shown are for tax year 2026. These are summaries; residency, filing status, exemptions and the type of income affect the result. Official guidance is linked alongside each topic.

Portland clients.
Familiar questions.

Our local client work spans personal returns, independent businesses and property income. These are examples of the situations we can help you work through.

Your own business, and a pile of receipts.

A Central Eastside maker starts wholesaling. A contractor takes on another employee. A consultant leaves a salaried job. We help turn the transactions into books that support the business return and the next decision.

A Portland home becomes a rental.

A move, an ADU or an inherited property can add a new set of records to your return. We review rental income, expenses and improvement costs, and check whether Portland rental registration needs attention.

Real estate accounting ↗

Your income changed. Your withholding didn’t.

A promotion, consulting income or a stock sale can make last year’s tax payments a poor guide. We help Portland clients review the full picture, including state and local taxes.

Retirement, an inheritance or a move abroad can change what needs reporting. Tell us before the decision, where possible, so we can review the tax questions with you.

Oregon estate and trust tax

An Oregon estate transfer tax return is generally required when estate assets total $1 million or more and include property taxable by Oregon. An estate or trust may also have separate income tax returns. We help you identify the filing work and coordinate with your legal advisers.
